According to Historic Scotland, "The hall (originally) had a painted timber ceiling, supported on the stone corbels which line the side walls. The walls were once plastered and covered with painted decoration....The laird's table would have been set in front of the fireplace and lit by the large windows on either side." This hall, which must once have been a grand and lively gathering place, is now reduced to a lonely and monochromatic splendor. |
