Here in the Pacific Northwest, I'm still searching for the perfect British-style fish and chip meal. You know, the kind with the HUGE fish fillet and copious amounts of hand-cut potatoes, all deep fried and presented to you wrapped in a newspaper. Eating this inexpensive meal (in Britain, anyway. Here in the U.S., one pays premium prices for any fish that doesn't come from McDonalds or Skippers) is decadent delight, with the fish melting in your mouth and the chips sliding right down. On our next trip to the UK, it'll be my first meal! |
